What was intriguing about this project was using structural steel integral in our sliding panels as “hidden” but functional structural steel support for the fenestration opening. By way of extending the integral structural steel of fixed-panel portions of sliding door systems beyond required panel heights; up to structural headers, and down to the structural floor, we learned that structural requirements for headers could be reduced by more than 50%.
